News: Cahill was awful yet again Wednesday. Impact: Cahill fell to 1-7 as he gave up seven runs over four innings. One bright spot was that four runs were unearned but his pitching is still abysmal. His ERA is 5.72.(STATS, 11:33am)

News: Cahill (1-7) gave up seven runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out three across four innings in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers. Impact: Not the outing that Cahill or the D-backs wanted to see in what was just the second start for him since rejoining the rotation. Most of the damage happened in the fourth inning, in which Cahill allowed five runs on five hits. He should have gotten out of the inning with just one run, but Aaron Hill made a costly fielding error that loaded up the bases, and Austin Jackson followed one batter later with a bases-clearing double. He'll look for better results against the Reds next week.(RotoWire, )

News: Cahill avoided the loss in a no-decision against the Cubs on Friday as he gave up three runs on four hits over five innings pitched. Impact: In his first start since April 13, Cahill was limited on pitch count as manager Kirk Gibson only allowed him to throw 67 pitches. Considering Cahill's miserable output earlier in the season, this wasn't a bad start overall though Anthony Rizzo sort of got in the way. Cahill is currently slated to start next Wednesday facing the Tigers.(RotoWire, )

News: Cahill will start against the Cubs on Friday, the Arizona Republic reports. Impact: Considering that the D-backs owe Cahill $12.3 million in 2015, the incentive to give him an opportunity to rebound during the second half is a worthwhile endeavor. Command has been an issue for Cahill since the start of last season, and there were few signs of a significant turnaround on that front during his time in the minors between High-A Visalia and Triple-A Reno since his demotion. He'll take over the rotation spot previously held by Mike Bolsinger.(RotoWire, )

News: The Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled right-hander Trevor Cahill from Triple-A Reno. Impact: Cahill made 19 appearances in a previous stint Arizona, going 1-6 with a 5.66 ERA. He was 0-4 with a 9.17 ERA as a starter. (STATS, 4:29pm)
Mon. July 14, 2014
News: Cahill was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Monday. Impact: Cahill has started six games at Triple-A Reno during the past month, going 2-2 with a 3.49 ERA and 1.447 WHIP in 28.1 innings. Although he didn't allow a homer in the last three appearances, his control has been an issue with 27 strikeouts versus 20 free passes. On the other hand, when batters have made contact, he has induced groundballs more often than not, as evidenced by a 2.57 GO/AO. He'll now take Mike Bolsinger's place in the Diamondbacks' rotation.(RotoWire, )
