News: Perez (groin) is in the lineup Monday at the White Sox. Impact: Held out Sunday due to a strained right groin, Perez will man his typical spot at catcher and bat cleanup. Prior to the absence, he had played in every game in July, batting .259/.286/.315 with one homer, eight RBI, and six runs in 54 at-bats.(RotoWire, )

News: Perez (groin) says he expects to return to the lineup Monday, when the Royals will begin their three-game series with the White Sox, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Impact: As the Royals noted when Perez was missing from Sunday's lineup, the right groin strain that is keeping Perez out of the series finale with the Red Sox is not expected to result in a DL stint, and the catcher's own optimism would seem to support that. The Royals could still choose to rest him Monday to play it safe, but for now, plan on Perez resuming duties behind the plate at some point during the series with Chicago.(RotoWire, )

Wed. July 9, 2014
News: Perez went 2-for-5 at the plate Wednesday, with two runs scored and the go-ahead, three-run homer in the ninth inning. Impact: Perez looks to be heating up at the plate a bit, as he's driven in three runs in back-to-back games, and has hit safely in six of his last seven contests. His .284 batting average is well off the .318 number he posted in the first half last season, but the All-Star backstop continues to be productive for the Royals out of the cleanup spot. Perez historically has an OPS nearly 30 points better in the second half, so look for more good things to come from the 24-year-old as the season carries on.(RotoWire, )
