News: Ross surrendered six runs and eight hits in just 4.1 innings against Tampa Bay on Thursday. He walked two batters and struck out three. Impact: A majority of the damage Ross allowed came on a pair of two-run homers, not that he pitched well otherwise. The 25-year-old lefty was demoted to Triple-A Round Rock in late June, but was called up to take Yu Darvish's spot in the rotation. Although Ross been mediocre this season, even at Round Rock, he's likely to make at least a couple of starts, as the Rangers don't have many other options.(RotoWire, )

News: Ross was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday and will take the hill against the Rays. Impact: The left-hander will be replacing Yu Darvish in the rotation, after elbow inflammation forced the Rangers ace to the DL on Wednesday. Ross supplied an unsightly 4.78 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 49 innings as a starter with the Rangers earlier this season, making him a fairly unreliable rotation option at this time.(RotoWire, )

News: Ross will start Thursday against the Rays, Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. Impact: Elbow inflammation has pushed ace Yu Darvish to the DL, and Ross will be up to take his turn Thursday. Ross has struggled mightily in 18 appearances (nine starts) with the big club this season (5.61 ERA, 1.65 WHIP), but the Rangers don't have many alternatives should Ross continue to struggle, so he'll likely stick in the rotation.(RotoWire, )
