News: Porcello pitched an absolute gem against the Rays on Wednesday, tossing a complete-game shutout while giving up just three hits and striking out four en route to his 14th win of the year. Impact: After a mediocre performance his last time out on August 15 against the Mariners (five earned runs on 10 hits in six innings), Porcello reversed course with one of his best outings of the year. Shockingly, this was Porcello's third complete-game shutout of the year. With his ability to keep runners off base (32 walks in 165.1 innings), Porcello has really excelled this year and now sports a 3.10 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. His next start is scheduled for Tuesday at home against the Yankees.(RotoWire, )

News: Porcello allowed six runs -- five earned -- on 10 hits and no walks Friday with three strikeouts in a loss against the Mariners. Impact: Porcello got ahead of hitters (21 of 27 first-pitch strikes), but he had trouble putting them away. He lowered his BB/9 to 1.89, though, with his eighth start of no walks allowed. This was the first time in six starts he failed to go more than six innings -- in the previous five starts he had a 1.75 ERA. Chalk this one up to one-of-those-nights.(RotoWire, )

News: Porcello was forced into action Sunday against the Blue Jays, coming into the game in the 17th inning and getting the loss in the 19th inning. He gave up one run on three hits and two walks and also committed a big throwing error in the game-ending rally in the 19th. Impact: Porcello can hardly be blamed for his off game. Not only did he start Thursday, but he also had a 30-pitch bullpen session Saturday as his regular throw day. While the Tigers aren't divulging their plans, it's highly unlikely that he'll be available for his regular turn in the rotation Tuesday. However, the Tigers are especially hamstrung because Anibal Sanchez just went on the DL and because they are in a stretch of 55 games in 55 days and have a full seven games this upcoming week.(RotoWire, )

News: Porcello (13-6) took a tough-luck loss Thursday in Yankee Stadium, allowing one run on nine hits in seven innings. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter for the third time in four starts. Impact: Just another quality outing for Porcello, who's allowed all of seven runs in his last five starts on the heels of a seven-run implosion back on July 6. He'll look to keep rolling on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.(RotoWire, )

News: Porcello earned his 13th victory Saturday night to tie Detroit Tigers teammate Max Scherzer for the AL lead. Impact: Porcello (13-5, 3.18 ERA) gave up two runs, five hits and two walks in eight innings while striking out a season-high 10 in an 11-5 victory over Colorado. He's 2-0 with a 1.86 ERA in his last four outings.(STATS, 1:02pm)
