News: Eovaldi was a tough-luck loser in his final start of the season, limiting the Nationals to just two runs over seven strong innings to drop his record to 6-14. Impact: Eovaldi walked three and struck out five, allowing eight hits over the seven frames. The hard-throwing right-hander closed the season with back-to-back quality outings that both resulted in losses. Despite losing each of his last eight decisions, Eovaldi took a significant step forward in 2014, posting a 4.37 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 142 strikeouts and 43 walks over a career-best 199.2 innings pitched. Eovaldi appeared to wear down a bit in the second half, but will be primed improve on his solid campaign as the Marlins' No. 3 starter next season.(RotoWire, )

News: Eovaldi was hammered for six runs over 4.1 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Mets. Impact: Eovaldi watched his ERA spike to 4.48 with the poor outing, and has now failed to make it out of the fifth inning in either his past two starts. He's crumbled in the second half, posting an unsightly 6.04 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 67 innings since the All-Star break, compared to a 3.61 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 119.2 first-half frames. Eovaldi has already exceeded his 2013 workload (127 innings between the majors and minors) by 59.2 innings and it appears that the increase is impacting his performance on the mound. While no official announcement has been made, it would not be surprising if the team decided to limit his workload over the final weeks of the season.(RotoWire, )
