News: Holliday hit his 19th home run (418 feet) of the season, as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored and one RBI facing the Reds on Friday night. Impact: The home run was a first inning shot off Reds starter David Holmberg, which turned out to be the game-winning RBI in a close 2-1 victory. Holliday is closing in on the 90 RBI mark for the season, although he'll end up shy on expectations for runs and homers.(RotoWire, )

News: Holliday (.269/.369/.429) launched his 17th homer of the season as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a stolen base and three RBI against the Rockies on Friday. Impact: The 439-foot blast was in the first inning off Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa and it really set the tone early for the Cardinals offense. News: Holliday (back) said he could have played Sunday and expects to be in the starting lineup Monday against Cincinnati, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Impact: Dealing with back tightness, Holliday was held out of Sunday's lineup as a precaution. It appears to be only a minor issue, however, so expect to see him back in the fold Monday.(RotoWire, )
Sep 7, 2014
News: Updating a previous report, Holliday was held out of Sunday's lineup due to back tightness, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports. Impact: Holliday doesn't get many days off, so it was a bit surprising to see him held out of action with the Cardinals fighting to hang on to their division lead. It sounds like back tightness was to blame, however, so consider the outfielder day-to-day until the team provides additional information. The Cardinals open a four-game series with the Reds starting Monday, when Holliday will look to make his return.(RotoWire, )

News: Holliday is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers. Impact: Holliday hasn't had a day off since Aug. 17, so a maintenance day was likely past due. After opening the series with a three-hit game, the 34-year-old outfielder is hitless in back-to-back contests, and will give way to Jon Jay in left field Sunday afternoon. There doesn't seem to be any injury in play here, so look for him to be available off the bench if needed.(RotoWire, )
