News: Quintana tossed five innings Friday night versus the Astros, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while racking up eight strikeouts. Impact: Quintana followed up on a very strong first half with this performance, as he has turned into a more-than-reliable No. 2 starter behind ace Chris Sale. The 25-year-old southpaw has been especially dominant over his last six outings, posting a 1.77 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 10.2 K/9 across 40.2 innings. Quintana is slated to be back atop the mound Wednesday afternoon versus the Royals.(RotoWire, )

News: Quintana ended his scoreless streak at 20 2-3 innings in the Chicago White Sox's 4-3 loss in 10 innings in Boston on Thursday. Impact: Quintana (5-7, 3.24 ERA) retired all 15 batters through five innings, then struggled with his control in the sixth when Boston scored three runs. He previously had allowed one earned run in 30 2-3 innings.(STATS, 6:33pm)

News: Quintana allowed just four baserunners -- but three runs -- over seven innings Thursday against the Red Sox. He struck out seven and didn't receive a decision. Impact: Quintana started the game with five perfect innings before the Red Sox got to him in the sixth, as both of the walks and both of the hits he allowed came in that inning. He was able to escape and toss a perfect seventh before leaving with a 3-1 deficit. Rotation mate Chris Sale may be the team's All-Star, but Quintana is in the midst of a career season. He only has five wins through 19 starts, but he's posting career-best numbers in ERA (3.24, with a 2.84 FIP), WHIP (1.20) and K/9 (8.07). Perhaps his ERA will jump a bit as his HR/FB rises from its current 3.7 percent level, but owners should expect a positive second half.(RotoWire, )
