News: Niese allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six in six innings to pick up the win in the Mets' 7-3 victory over the Cubs on Saturday. Impact: Niese cruised through the first six innings, allowing just one run, before running into trouble in the seventh. He allowed two runs and left with the bases loaded and no outs, but Vic Black retired the next three batters with no additional damage. Niese has now tossed back-to-back quality starts for the first time since he went on the disabled list in early July.(RotoWire, )

News: Niese picked up his first win since June 28, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six in seven innings, in the Mets' 5-3 victory over the Phillies on Monday. Impact: Niese was nicked only by Darin Ruf's two-run home run, but was aided by Juan Lagares throwing out Domonic Brown at the plate to end the seventh inning. For the most part, he was in control throughout and will look to carry this strong result forward to his next start.(RotoWire, )

News: Niese allowed six runs on eight hits and two walks, while striking out just two over six innings, in the Mets' 7-1 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday. Impact: With the loss, Niese slipped to 0-4 with a 5.76 ERA since the All-Star break, which is when he came off the disabled list. He landed on the disabled list with shoulder weakness and his velocity has been slow to come around. If Niese doesn't turn it around soon, it would not be surprising to see him land back on the disabled list.(RotoWire, )
