News: Reds GM Walt Jocketty told's Jim Bowden that he expects Votto (quadriceps) to return in approximately five weeks. Impact: While it's nice to know that the Reds have a clear expected timetable for Votto's return, it's tough to justify holding the first baseman in single-season leagues with the knowledge that he'll only be available for a month in what likely amounts to a best-case scenario. It hasn't helped matters that an ailing Votto was only slashing .255/.390/.409 before landing on the disabled list, and there's no indication that he'll return to All-Star form even after the Reds clear him to resume duties as a fixture in the heart of their lineup.(RotoWire, )

News: Manager Bryan Price said the Reds expect Votto (quadriceps), who was placed on the DL last week, to return in a matter of weeks,'s Manny Randhawa reports. "It's so far out, and when I say 'far out,' it's more about weeks; I'm not talking months and months," Price said of Votto's expected return date. Impact: Price noted that Votto remains without a clear timetable, but in narrowing down a possible return to weeks rather than months, hope has been created that Votto will play again this season. If that proves to be the case, the question will be whether Votto will be his old power-hitting, on-base machine self or the diminished version he's been while playing through the quad strain for much of 2014.(RotoWire, )
