News: Votto (quadriceps) was slated to take underhand flips in the indoor batting cage prior to Sunday's game, the Reds' official site reports. Impact: That's the last step to take before live batting practice, and he's already been fielding grounders at first base. "It's day-to-day, station-to-station," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "Everything he's been doing has been increased effort from when he takes ground balls, moving laterally side-to-side, the running -- it's just a progression."(RotoWire, )

News: Votto (quadriceps) will travel with the team on its upcoming road trip, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Impact: For the first time since landing back on the DL on July 8, Votto will head out on the road with the Reds, though it's uncertain whether a return during the nine-game trip is realistic. Votto has taken gradual steps in his recovery in recent weeks, fielding ground balls and hitting off a tee, but his biggest challenge, namely running the bases, still awaits. While he said last week that he's still hopeful he can make it back this season, Reds management will of course have the final say.(RotoWire, )
