News: GM Dave Dombrowski said Thursday that it's "highly unlikely" Hanrahan (elbow) will pitch for the Tigers this season, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports. Impact: The right-hander's rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery had advanced to the point where he was throwing bullpen sessions, but following a setback last weekend, the Tigers were forced to shut him back down. It seems the team has come to terms with the fact that Hanrahan won't pitch at all this season, meaning the $1 million it invested in him in the offseason is a sunk cost.(RotoWire, )

News: Hanrahan (elbow) was shut down after his bullpen session Saturday, and he will be examined again later this week, MLive's James Schmehl reports. Impact: It could be a long shot at this point for Hanrahan to pitch meaningful innings out of the Tigers' bullpen this season. If Hanrahan is indeed out of the running for a high-leverage spot in the bullpen, the team may be forced to address the issue via trade.(RotoWire, )

News: Hanrahan (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Saturday. Impact: This is simply a procedural move to free up a 40-man roster spot, as Hanrahan has spent the entire season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander has been throwing bullpen sessions over the last week or so, but GM Dave Dombrowski said there is no set timetable for his return.(RotoWire, )

News: Hanrahan is continuing to rehab from Tommy John surgery, and Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said that there is no timetable set for his return, MLive.com reports. Impact: Hanrahan's been throwing bullpen sessions over the last week, but has a ways to go yet. "The thing is, when you start getting ready for the big leagues, you're talking about pitching back-to-back days," Dombrowksi said. "You're talking about throwing all your pitches. Really, there have been no expectations. Really, he's made progress, but I can't also say that he's close." These quotes are not out of the ordinary players rehabbing from Tommy John surgery; you can't rush the recovery process or put a definite timetable on a return until the player has proven he's ready to face live hitters. Hanrahan will have to continue throwing bullpen sessions until he's ready to face live batters and eventually go on a rehab assignment. The Tigers will be worth keeping an eye on over the next two weeks, as any move to acquire a bullpen arm may be indicative of Hanrahan's projected outlook within the organization.(RotoWire, )
