News: The Tampa Bay Rays optioned right-hander Jeremy Hellickson to Double-A Montgomery on Sunday. Impact: Hellickson is coming back after arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow in January, and the move allows him to pitch during the All-Star break Monday in a minor league game at Pensacola. He gave up one run and six hits in 4 1-3 innings against Kansas City in his first big league game this season on Tuesday. (STATS, 12:42pm)

News: Hellickson will start Monday's game for Double-A Montgomery and is expected to make another start for High-A Charlotte later in the week, the Tampa Bay Times' Matt Baker reports. Impact: The Rays want Hellickson to keep pitching over the break after he allowed one run over 4.1 innings in Tuesday's season debut. Though he's expected to start a pair of games in the minors, Hellickson will likely be back in the big-league rotation soon.(RotoWire, )

News: Hellickson lasted 4.1 innings Tuesday in his season debut, giving up one run on six hits while walking one and striking out two for no decision against the Royals. Impact: Hellickson wasn't bad in his season debut, as all the hits he allowed were singles. He also showed good control by issuing just one free pass, as well as grooving 13-of-20 first-pitch strikes. With his elbow issues behind him, hopefully he can regain the form that saw him pile up 135 strikeouts and 12 wins in 174 innings last season.(RotoWire, )
