News: Samardzija was lit up on Wednesday by the Mets, allowed seven earned runs in only 3.2 innings. Impact: Samardzija cruised through the first two innings and then ran into a wall in the third. He gave up a homer to start the inning, followed by a couple of soft singles before losing his command. He walked the next batter, threw a wild pitch to score one run and then Lucas Duda finished off the damage with a three-run bomb. This was his first start for Oakland in which he allowed more than four runs. The right-hander will next take the mound on Monday (or Tuesday depending on Jason Hammels' re-entry into the rotation) against against the Astros in Houston.(RotoWire, )

News: Samardzija (5-9) was stuck with a loss Thursday in Kansas City, allowing four runs (three earned) over 6.1 innings. He allowed eight hits and struck out five without a walk. Impact: A tough one for Samardzija, who entered the seventh inning with a 3-2 lead, but allowed a one-out single and then a double before being yanked for reliever Ryan Cook, who promptly allowed both inherited runners to score. He'll look for a better outcome Wednesday at home against the Mets.(RotoWire, )
