News: Gyorko belted his ninth home run of the year, while going 2-for-5 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's game against the Dodgers. Impact: While Gyorko's season numbers are an eyesore (.203/.256/.342 slash line in 281 at-bats), he has been playing a lot better since he's been activated off the DL on July 28. Since then he has hit .311 with four home runs and 20 RBI.(RotoWire, )

News: Gyorko hit a grand slam off the Cardinals' Kevin Siegrist to put the Padres ahead in their win Saturday night. He became the Padres' all-time leader among second basemen in homers with the 31st of his career, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact: Gyorko's shot came in a steady rain that ultimately created a rain delay. He has been facing a steady diet of bases-loaded opportunities, and this time he came up big just before Mother Nature did.(RotoWire, )

News: Gyorko went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Rockies. Impact: Since returning from the DL on July 28 after a nearly two-month absence, Gyorko has looked like an entirely different hitter than the one who slashed a pathetic .162/.213/.270 in the first half. Thanks to stark improvements in both good fortune (.425 BABIP in second half, vs. .192 in first half) and his line drive rate (31.0%, vs. 16.6%), Gyorko has slashed .333/.387/.526 over his 62 plate appearances since rejoining the lineup. Expect his rest-of-season production to ultimately settle somewhere between both extremes.(RotoWire, )

News: Gyorko contributed a two-run single during a 2-for-5 performance Sunday at Pittsburgh. Impact: The Padres have won three of the last four contests, which have coincided with runs driven in by Gyorko. During that span, he's hit .222 (4-for-18) with four RBI but no other counting stats. Although his batting line (.185/.240/.309) is showing little sign of turning around, he's started 11 of 12 games since he was activated from the DL on July 28. As a result, he appears as if he'll be handed every opportunity to revive his prospects at the plate.(RotoWire, )
