News: Bruce is not in the lineup Monday against the Brewers, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports. Impact: Bruce struck out three times Sunday in addition to making a costly error, so manager Bryan Price will give him a day off to clear his head. The 27-year-old hasn't been living up to his career numbers so far this season, and to make matters worse, he's hit just .138/.180/.310 since July 1. Skip Schumaker will take over in right field, while Donald Lutz mans first base.(RotoWire, )

News: Bruce went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Saturday's loss to the Yankees. He also committed a critical two-base error early in the game. Impact: The Reds were shut down by Brandon McCarthy on Saturday and have 23 strikeouts in their first two games after the break. They're counting on Bruce to provide a little more with Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips out, and so far he hasn't been up to the task against McCarthy and David Phelps.(RotoWire, )

News: Bruce is not in the lineup Thursday against the Cubs, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports. Impact: Bruce hasn't been out of the lineup since June 1, so with the Reds playing their third day game in five days, manager Bryan Price decided it would be a good opportunity to rest his outfielder. Unfortunately, the Reds are also without Brandon Phillips (thumb), Billy Hamilton (hamstring) and Devin Mesoraco (rest) on Thursday, leaving the lineup extremely depleted against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks.(RotoWire, )

News: Bruce ended his slump Sunday. Impact: Bruce emerged from his 0-for-26 skid with a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning, proving the veteran could fight through adversity.
