News: Marquis was placed on the DL at Triple-A Lehigh Valley with a strained oblique, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Impact: Marquis, who can opt out of his contract on July 31, likely will remain with the Phillies organization, as he stands a decent chance of finding a role with the MLB club down the stretch if key players are traded. The 36-year-old has pitched well after undergoing Tommy John Surgery a year ago and could be called up in August or September, assuming he recovers quickly from this oblique injury.(RotoWire, )

News: Marquis has routinely been hitting the low-90s with his fastball at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, CSN Philly reports. Impact: Marquis, 36, rarely hit 90 mph over his past four seasons as he was pitching with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. He underwent Tommy John surgery last July, and has pitched well since signing a minor league contract with the Phillies. He could be called up later this month if the Phillies are able to trade a starter or if they decide to move Roberto Hernandez to the bullpen. If he is not brought to the majors, Marquis said he would exercise his July 31 opt-out clause in order to sign with another club.(RotoWire, )
