News: Arrieta will start Wednesday against the Cardinals, which will be his final start of the season, the Daily Herald's Bruce Miles reports. Impact: He was originally expected to make two starts next week, but he will be pushed back a day, and Kyle Hendricks will instead be the Cubs' two-start pitcher. Arrieta will be one of the more interesting starting pitchers to evaluate heading into the 2015 season, as he pitched like a true ace for the first time during his 2014 campaign.(RotoWire, )

News: Arrieta took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning before giving up a one-out double to Brandon Phillips, the only blemish for the Chicago Cubs pitcher in a 7-0 shutout of the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Impact: Arrieta (9-5) struck out 13 and walked one in his first career complete game. He was five outs from the first no-hitter at Wrigley Field in 42 years when Phillips drove an 0-2 pitch to deep left-center, just beyond the desperate dive of center fielder Matt Szczur on the warning track. Arrieta carried a perfect game into the seventh inning against Cincinnati on June 24 before Billy Hamilton singled. In his next outing, he held Boston hitless until two outs in the eighth.(STATS, 6:53pm)

Impact: Arrieta has now given up two earned runs or less in seven of his last nine starts, a span that has seen his BB:K on the season improve to a solid 39:144 to go with a 2.82 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.
