News: Ellsbury (hamstring) is out for the rest of the season, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Impact: After missing the past few games with a strained hamstring, the Yankees have decided to shut Ellsbury down for the remainder of the season. Though he missed the last few weeks of the season, Ellsbury posted his best season since 2009, hitting 16 home runs and swiping 39 bases.(RotoWire, )

News: Manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday that Ellsbury (hamstring) is doubtful to return over the final few days of the season, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports. Impact: With Ellsbury still not able to take part in any baseball activities while he misses his fifth straight game Wednesday, it appears the Yankees are content to shut him down the rest of the way. Although it seems unlikely that we'll ever see Ellsbury return to the 32-homer, 39-steal level we saw from him with Boston in 2011, he'll still likely warrant a high selection in fantasy drafts in 2015, even if his steal numbers predictably decline in his thirties. Ellsbury still managed to steal 39 bases in 44 attempts, while also providing moderate power production atop the order.(RotoWire, )

News: Ellsbury (hamstring) took part in some light exercises Tuesday but still has not progressed to any baseball activities, MLB.com reports. Impact: Manager Joe Girardi said last weekend that there was "a distinct possibility" the hamstring strain would end Ellsbury's season, but Ellsbury is still holding out hope that he can return. However, considering that there's just five games remaining in the regular season and Ellsbury still hasn't resumed baseball activities, it seems more likely we won't see him again until 2015.(RotoWire, )

News: Ellsbury (hamstring) hopes to return before the end of the regular season, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports. Impact: Ellsbury suffered the injury on Friday night, and it was initially believed his season may be over. While that still may be the case, he offered up the possibility of a return before the season's conclusion. For now, the team will likely run with Brett Gardner in center field, with a mixture of Chris Young, Ichiro Suzuki, and Carlos Beltran (elbow) in the other two spots.(RotoWire, )

News: Ellsbury (hamstring) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Blue Jays, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Impact: A right hamstring strain forced Ellsbury from Friday's game, and manager Joe Girardi said there's "a distinct possibility" it ends his season. The 31-year-old Ellsbury was expected to undergo an MRI on Saturday morning, but the results haven't been disclosed.(RotoWire, )

News: Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that there's "a distinct possibility" that Ellsbury (hamstring) doesn't return this season, Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York reports. Impact: Ellsbury played in more games in 2014 (147), than he has since 2011 in which he played in 158 games. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, there is a distinct possibility that Ellsbury will be stranded at 147 for the season. Brett Gardner and Chris Young figure to see most of the center field duties in Ellsbury's absence, and clarity regarding his availability for the final week-plus of the season should become available after the results of his MRI are known Saturday.(RotoWire, )

News: Ellsbury left Friday's game with a right hamstring strain and will undergo an MRI, Mark Feinsand of New York Daily News reports. Impact: Ellsbury was replaced in center field by Brett Gardner, who moved over from left field,, while Chris Young entered the game in left. The MRI should reveal more about the nature of his injury, but Ellsbury should be considered day-to-day at this point.(RotoWire, )
