News: Kennedy (oblique) is slated to return to the rotation Saturday against Atlanta, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact: The right-hander made it through his bullpen session Wednesday without issue, and thus received the green light to oppose Ervin Santana on Saturday. Kennedy was scratched from his last scheduled start due to oblique soreness, but apparently a DL stint was never seriously considered. In five July starts spanning 32 innings, Kennedy posted a 2.53 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 32 strikeouts.(RotoWire, )

News: Kennedy (oblique) is tentatively scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, which would put him in line to start Saturday against the Braves, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact: Kennedy was scratched from his scheduled start Monday afternoon due to oblique soreness, but the Padres never expected the veteran to require a DL stint. This will hold true if Kennedy gets through Wednesday's bullpen session unscathed. Kennedy has been the subject of trade rumors for quite some time now, but considering the current timetable, it's unlikely he'll be moved before the Thursday trade deadline. Jason Lane was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to start in Kennedy's place Monday, but he will likely be sent back down to the minors shortly afterwords, especially if this timetable holds true.(RotoWire, )

News: Kennedy will miss his scheduled start against the Braves on Monday due to a left oblique strain. Manager Bud Black says converted outfielder Jason Lane will be recalled from Triple-A El Paso to make the fill-in start. Impact: Black says Kennedy suffered the "mild" oblique strain in an at-bat. Black said before Sunday's game Kennedy will miss the start despite being ''so close'' to being ready to pitch Sunday. Kennedy has been playing catch and is expected to start either Friday or Saturday. Kennedy is 8-9 with a 3.66 ERA and has been mentioned in trade rumors.(STATS, 3:56pm)

News: Kennedy has been scratched from his scheduled start Monday vs. the Braves due to left oblique soreness, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact: A subject of trade rumors the last several weeks, Kennedy's unexpected scratch will be the result of an injury rather than any forthcoming deal. At this time, the Padres don't believe Kennedy will require a DL stint, as the team is hoping that skipping a start will be all he needs to get past the issue. It's not immediately clear who will replace him in the rotation for Monday's turn.(RotoWire, )
