News: A second MRI for Bailey's forearm injury did not show the improvement the team was hoping for Wednesday, the Cincinnati Enquirer's C. Trent Rosecrans reports. Impact: The team is still holding out hope that Bailey will be able to pitch again this season, but with the lack of desired progress Wednesday, it's looking less and less likely that owners will be able to get a few more starts out of the Reds' righty in 2014. Combine Bailey's lack of improvement with the Reds' horrible play in the second half, an there's little reason to hold Bailey in shallow, single-season leagues.(RotoWire, )

News: Bailey (forearm) and the Reds remain hopeful that he can pitch again this season, MLB.com reports. Impact: Bailey has been shut down from throwing for close to three weeks now but still is not completely pain free. The right-hander said the small tear in his right flexor mass tendon is still presenting issues when he tries to grip a baseball, making it rather unlikely that he'll be cleared to progress from strengthening exercises in the immediate future. The Reds recently sent Bailey for an evaluation and are awaiting the results.(RotoWire, )

News: Though Bailey (flexor mass tendon) has shown improvement, he isn't ready yet to begin throwing. "There's a definite improvement from where he was prior to [the injection]," manager Bryan Price said. "But he's not ready to initiate a throwing program yet." Impact: Bailey also had an ultrasound examination Friday. He's increasing exercises, but there isn't a published target date for him to start throwing, let alone for him to return. Given the Reds' precipitous fall out of the playoff race, Bailey might not make more than a token appearance for the remainder of the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Bailey (elbow) has yet to resume throwing, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports. Impact: Bailey has taken it easy since landing on the disabled list, and he's not sure when he will throw again. Bailey will visit with team doctors Friday, and it's possible an update on his status could come after that.(RotoWire, )

News: The Cincinnati Reds have placed Bailey on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right elbow. Bailey had an MRI, which revealed a flexor mass strain in his elbow. Impact: Manager Bryan Price said earlier this week that Bailey thought he hurt his elbow while batting in his last start on Aug. 7. The veteran pitcher recently threw a light bullpen session, but he didn't feel any better.(STATS, 7:16pm)
