News: Santiago picked up his second win of the season Friday, striking out two batters in 2.2 innings of relief against the Mariners. Impact: Santiago entered the marathon against the Mariners with one out in the top of the 14th inning and proceeded to throw scoreless baseball long enough to be able to pick up the victory. He was initially scheduled to start Tuesday against the Orioles but hasn't been formally announced after having to throw 38 pitches in the outing.(RotoWire, )

News: Santiago got more than enough support to earn his first win of the season Thursday as the Los Angeles Angels slugged their way to a 15-6 victory over Texas. Impact: Santiago (1-7, 4.50 ERA) allowed four runs and five hits while matching a season high with eight strikeouts. He had lost nine consecutive decisions since a 5-2 win over Minnesota on Aug. 18 while with the Chicago White Sox.(STATS, 6:12pm)

News: Santiago gave up four runs -- three earned -- and five hits over six innings in Thursday's 15-6 win at Texas to break a streak of 16 consecutive winless starts. He walked one and struck out eight. Impact: Santiago only got the nod Thursday because Matt Shoemaker had to fill in for an injured Jered Weaver (back) during Monday's start. Weaver is expected to make his scheduled start Saturday, so despite Santiago's nice performance, expect him to head to the bullpen when the Angels return from the All-Star break.(RotoWire, )

News: Santiago, who was recently removed from the rotation, may now start Thursday's game against the Rangers, after Jered Weaver left Monday's contest with a back injury, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Impact: Weaver was pulled before the third inning and replaced by Matt Shoemaker, who was previously expected to start Thursday. The obvious move is to give Santiago another shot, though he likely won't stick in the rotation, unless Weaver misses time after the All-Star break.(RotoWire, )

News: Santiago has been removed from the Angels' rotation, but will remain with the big league club, pitching out of the bullpen, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher reports. Impact: The Angels have five healthy starting pitchers who are all better options than Santiago, and it seems any notions of letting him continue as a starter in the minor leagues have been dashed. It's not clear if he will ever be a starter again for the Halos, as he's been pretty poor all season, but for now his fantasy value as a long-reliever is quite low.(RotoWire, )
