News: Perkins was shut down for the season with a left forearm strain secondary nerve irritation in his elbow, but doesn't have any structural damage, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Impact: Perkins will just need rest and rehab before returning to the team according to Dr. John Steubs. That news is good for Perkins, as it won't require him to have surgery, but his status for this season is unclear at this point.(RotoWire, )

News: While Perkins is undergoing tests, the Twins believe he has nerve irritation in his left arm and will not need surgery, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Impact: The Twins haven't officially ruled him out for the rest of the season, but it seems very unlikely he'll pitch again. Jared Burton will likely serve as Minnesota's closer with Michael Tonkin and Lester Oliveros perhaps also given a save chance.(RotoWire, )

News: Perkins will undergo tests on his neck and shoulder and won't be available until Friday at the soonest, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Impact: Perkins' numbers had taken a dive since he returned from a stiff neck last weekend, with the left-hander blowing two saves and surrendering six runs over his last 2.1 innings. The Twins hope that a couple of days off will be all he needs to get over the issue, but there's a real possibility Perkins will end up being shut down for the season. If that's the case, Jared Burton looks like the top candidate to pick up saves for the Twins in the interim.(RotoWire, )

News: The Twins are worried about Perkins' health and may shut him down for the season, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "We just want him to be honest with us and not hurt himself," said manager Ron Gardenhire. Impact: Perkins has a 13.50 ERA in September and has battled a stiff neck most of the month. With the Twins eliminated from the playoff race, it would seem likely that Perkins may be shut down. Jared Burton would be the likely closer the final two weeks, but the Star Tribune suggests Michael Tonkin could be given a look.(RotoWire, )

News: Perkins blew his seventh game of the season Tuesday but picked up his fourth win after the Twins walked off the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth. Impact: Perkins came in with a two-run cushion in the ninth inning, but then gave up a three-run homer to J.D. Martinez after giving up two hits. It's been a little dicey for Perkins in the ninth inning at times this season, but he still has a firm hold on the closer job in Minneapolis.(RotoWire, )
