News: Liriano worked five innings as he tries to bounce back from a difficult first half in which he managed just one win in 15 starts and spent a month on the disabled list with a back injury. Impact: Liriano struck out eight and gave up an unearned run. He faces the Dodgers in his next outing.(STATS, 2:23pm)

News: Liriano allowed one run (unearned) on three hits, walking three and striking out eight over five innings but was left with a no-decision against the Rockies on Friday night. Impact: It was better (he walked six in his last start), but he still needed 95 pitches (just 56 for strikes) to get through five innings -- including 48 in the first two innings alone. Liriano did strike out eight and dropped his ERA to 4.43, so perhaps he is beginning to shake off some of the rust from missing most of the first half of the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Liriano allowed three runs on three hits and six walks while striking out four in four innings in the Pirates' 6-3 loss to the Reds on Sunday. Impact: Liriano was activated from the DL to pitch for the first time since June 10. Despite only going four innings, Liriano's pitch count reached 94. He fell to 1-7 with a 4.72 ERA with the loss.(RotoWire, )

News: Liriano (oblique) was activated from the disabled list and will start for the Pirates on Sunday. Impact: Liriano was announced as the starter for Sunday's game earlier in the week, so there is no surprise here. He is also listed as the starter for the team's first game of the second half against the Rockies on Friday.(RotoWire, )

News: Liriano (oblique) will start Sunday against the Reds, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Impact: Clearing the final hurdle on his road back from an oblique injury, Liriano threw six innings and allowed just three hits while striking out eight over six innings for Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday. The left-hander will return Sunday to oppose Johnny Cueto in the team's final game of the first half, pushing Vance Worley to the bullpen.(RotoWire, )

News: Liriano (oblique) tossed six innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday. Impact: Liriano was sharp in Monday's outing, giving up just three hits while striking out eight batters. Given the way he threw the ball Monday, there's a good chance his next start will come with the big club. It remains to be seen which day he would start, however, with the All-Star break on the horizon.(RotoWire, )

News: Liriano (oblique) will make a start for the Pirates prior to the All-Star break, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Impact: Evidently, Liriano showed enough in his rehab start for Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday -- he struck out eight and allowed just three hits over six innings -- to warrant activation prior to the All-Star break. The team has yet to announce which game this weekend Liriano will start, but if he stays on normal rest, he'll start Saturday opposite the Reds' Mike Leake.(RotoWire, )
