News: Doubront was traded to the Cubs on Wednesday for player to be named later or cash, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports. Impact: Boston's patience with Doubront seemed to have worn thin recently, as he was banished to relief following a disastrous run in the rotation. His tenure in Boston ended with a six-run blowup over just 0.2 innings Monday vs. the Blue Jays. The lefty has curiously seen his velocity decline in the last couple of seasons, but still is just 26 years old and would seem to have some upside. The Cubs struck gold in acquiring Jake Arrieta for a pittance at last season's trade deadline, and can only hope Doubront similarly benefits from a change in scenery. With the Cubs still trying to fill a few rotation voids following the trades of Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel, look for Doubront to receive an opportunity to start again at some point this season.(RotoWire, )

News: The Boston Red Sox have traded left-hander Felix Doubront to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named. Impact: The Red Sox announced the deal before Wednesday night's game against Toronto. The 26-year-old Doubront was 2-4 with a 6.07 ERA in 17 games. He began the season in the rotation and was moved to the bullpen in late June. (STATS, 6:17pm)

News: Doubront was not sharp out of the bullpen Monday, allowing six runs in 0.2 innings pitched. This was an ill-timed blowup for Doubront, who told Mass Live over the weekend that he wanted to be a starter or to be traded to a team that would allow him to start. Impact: Starter Clay Buchholz and Doubront combined to allow nine runs in the sixth inning Monday. Even before this ugly outing Doubront was struggling, and now the lefty has allowed 11 runs in seven innings out of the bullpen this month. He's made it difficult for the Red Sox to get back anything useful in return for him.(RotoWire, )

News: Doubront pitched an inning of relief in Monday night's blowout win over Toronto. This was Doubront's first outing since July 7 and just the fourth time he's taken the mound in the past month. Impact: Doubront was moved to the bullpen to make room in the starting rotation for Brandon Workman, and then later Rubby De La Rosa. He's one of three left-handers in the pen and is behind Andrew Miller and Craig Breslow in terms of trustworthiness. Boston starters have been working deep into games, leaving Doubront with little opportunity to pitch. Don't be surprised to see him traded before the trading deadline.(RotoWire, )
