News: Hosmer has been cleared to begin swinging a bat after missing the past month with a stress fracture in his right hand. Impact: Hosmer had another round of X-rays before the Royals' game against the Yankees on Monday, and they showed enough progress that he can begin taking dry swings. The hope is that Hosmer can ramp it up to hitting off a tee and in the cage in the next week. (STATS, 6:31pm)

News: Hosmer (hand) will undergo another X-ray on Monday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Impact: Doctors will evaluate how far Hosmer has come along in his healing process from the stress fracture. If his hand checks out OK, he could soon begin a hitting program, with an eye on returning to the Royals in September.(RotoWire, )

News: Manager Ned Yost said Hosmer (hand) will not be cleared to swing for another week, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Impact: Hosmer underwent an X-ray on Thursday, which apparently showed he hadn't sufficiently recovered enough to resume baseball activities. The first baseman was first given a three-to-six-week recovery timetable upon his placement on the DL, but at this point, it seems things could be trending toward the far end of that range.(RotoWire, )
