News: Hosmer was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a losing cause against the Red Sox on Friday night. Impact: His seventh home run was the first Royals hit to leave the yard in a week (the only other home run over that span was of the inside-the park variety hit by Lorenzo Cain). The Royals have struggled to score runs and are last in the American League in long balls so they really need to execute when they put men on base.(RotoWire, )

The multi-hit game was his first since July 18, and brought his average up to .267 for the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Hosmer has been cleared to begin swinging a bat after missing the past month with a stress fracture in his right hand. Impact: Hosmer had another round of X-rays before the Royals' game against the Yankees on Monday, and they showed enough progress that he can begin taking dry swings. The hope is that Hosmer can ramp it up to hitting off a tee and in the cage in the next week. (STATS, 6:31pm)
