News: Jackson was placed on the DL on Thursday with a right lat strain, Bruce Miles of The Daily Herald reports. Impact: While it wasn't revealed until Thursday that Jackson is apparently dealing with an injury, his performance on the mound has been less than stellar of late. He allowed seven runs on eight hits Wednesday -- his ninth straight start of allowing at least two earned runs in six or fewer innings. Jackson may have been facing a demotion to the bullpen, but he'll instead hit the DL for a chance to recover and hit the reset button. In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled Zach Rosscup from Triple-A Iowa.(RotoWire, )

News: Jackson (6-14) was knocked around Wednesday for seven runs on eight hits over 2.2 innings against the Giants. Impact: The wind was blowing out at Wrigley Field, but Jackson is not making a very strong case to remain in the Cubs rotation after getting tagged for a home run and four doubles before getting yanked in the third inning. The right-hander has coughed up 12 runs in his last two starts and his ERA has now climbed to 6.09. If Jackson stays in the rotation, he'll face the Reds on Tuesday.(RotoWire, )

News: The Cubs won't remove Jackson from the rotation just yet. "We're trying to give [Jackson] an opportunity to right the ship," Cubs GM Jed Hoyer said. "It seems like the first inning, we're in a hole right away, and he's battling right away, and we haven't been able to solve that problem. Hopefully, we can find a solution by the end of the year and go into the offseason with some momentum." Impact: That said, the team is looking to find ways to give innings to Dan Straily (who will pitch Saturday but then will be sent back down), Jacob Turner and Felix Doubront. The Cubs don't believe that Jackson's problems stem from a degradation of his stuff (for instance, he hasn't lost velocity on his fastball), but rather his location.(RotoWire, )

News: Jackson (6-13) allowed five runs in 5.2 innings Thursday in a loss to Milwaukee. Impact: Not the way you want to pitch when your rotation spot is in jeopardy. Jackson is currently scheduled to start Wednesday against the Giants, but he could get the boot from the Cubs' rotation soon.(RotoWire, )

News: Jackson's spot in the rotation moving forward could be in jeopardy, ESPN Chicago reports. Impact: Jackson is being paid $11 million this season, but he owns a 5.74 ERA in 2014, and the Cubs may take him out of the rotation in order to get a closer look at some of their young starters. This appears to be more speculation than anything else at this point, but Jackson's fantasy value is already minimal, and a move to the bullpen would cause it to plunge even further.(RotoWire, )

News: Jackson gave up four runs -- three earned -- on five hits over six innings in a losing effort against the Rays on Saturday. Impact: Jake Odorizzi kept the Cubs' offense quiet for six innings Saturday, leaving Kirby Yates and Jake McGee to finish off the final three frames, and offsetting the useful outing from the veteran right-hander. Jackson will face the Brewers at Wrigley Field on Thursday in his next scheduled start, but inconsistency continues to make Jackson difficult to rely on regardless of his opponent.(RotoWire, )
