News: Encarnacion (quad) is expected to rejoin the Blue Jays on Friday in Chicago, the National Post's John Lott reports. Impact: Encarnacion, who has not played since July 5, continues to rehab at Triple-A Buffalo, where he singled in four at-bats and played a full game at first base Wednesday. It was his first time playing the field in more than a month, and he came away without any discomfort. Barring a setback Thursday, expect Encarnacion to be back in the mix for Toronto over the weekend. Prior to hitting the DL, he was hitting .277 with 70 RBI and 26 home runs in 88 games.(RotoWire, )

News: Encarnacion (quadriceps) will play the field for the first time in his rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Buffalo, the Buffalo News' Mike Harrington reports. Impact: He hasn't played in the field in more than a month, but he'll bat leadoff and play first base in his second game with Triple-A and his fourth overall in his rehab assignment. He hit a grand slam during Tuesday's game and should be back with the Blue Jays in the near future.(RotoWire, )

News: Encarnacion (quad) will begin a rehab assignment at High-A Dunedin on Saturday, Chris Toman of MLB.com reports. Impact: After he was initially prescribed a 2-to-4 week recovery timetable from the quad injury, Encarnacion has missed over a month of action, depriving the Blue Jays of some needed pop. Because of the extended absence, he'll likely require at least a handful of rehab games before the team feels comfortable activating him. With the Blue Jays falling six games behind the Orioles for the division lead following back-to-back losses, even the return of one of the game's top power threats might not be enough for the team to overcome the deficit.(RotoWire, )

News: Encarnacion (quadriceps) has resumed hitting and is expected to run in the next few days, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Impact: A setback late last month forced the Blue Jays to shut Encarnacion down for a few days, but he's begun ramping things back up and appears set to test his hamstring with some running later in the week. Manager John Gibbons said previously that Encarnacion will likely need to complete a minor league rehab assignment before being activated.(RotoWire, )
