News: Pomeranz will pitch out of the bullpen when he returns to the A's Tuesday, MLB Network Radio reports. Impact: Pomeranz tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in a start with the A's last week, but an opening for him in the rotation does not exist, so he will work in relief for the big club moving forward.(RotoWire, )

News: Pomeranz was optioned to Low-A Beloit on Thursday. Impact: The assignment to Beloit will allow Pomeranz to return to the club Tuesday. The lefty permitted just one unearned run on three hits over 5.1 innings in a spot start against the Astros on Wednesday, and he could end up rejoining the rotation if Jason Hammel continues to struggle.(RotoWire, )

News: Pomeranz got a no-decision Wednesday against the Astros, allowing just an unearned on three hits with a walk and seven strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Impact: Pomeranz was sharp in his return to the rotation, but was yanked by manager Bob Melvin after only 82 pitches when two runners reached via an Eric Sogard error and a Chris Carter single in the sixth. This was just a spot start for Pomeranz, who will head back to Triple-A unless he gets to take Jason Hammel's spot in the rotation Monday against the Mariners.(RotoWire, )

News: Pomeranz will be recalled from Triple-A to start Wednesday's game for the A's, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports. Impact: This move simply pushes Sonny Gray and the rest of the A's elite starters back a day in the rotation. It's possible that the A's simply wanted to give all of the starters an extra day of rest, but if Pomeranz performs well, he could theoretically replace Jason Hammel (who pitches Tuesday) in the rotation. Pomeranz posted a 3.21 ERA in eight starts with the A's earlier this season, striking out 37 in 42 innings, which makes him an intriguing spot-start option against Houston with the upside for more starts down the stretch.(RotoWire, )
