News: Farquhar (elbow) will be available as the closer should a save situation arise Monday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. Impact: After Fernando Rodney was forced to cover 32 pitches while blowing the save in Sunday's loss to the Angels, manager Lloyd McClendon will turn to Farquhar at the back of his bullpen. Sunday's performance aside, Rodney has been one of the best closers in baseball this season with a 2.33 ERA and 27 saves, so Farquhar's appointment to the role shouldn't last beyond Monday.(RotoWire, )

News: Farquhar said prior to Sunday's game that his elbow is a little sore, but he could pitch if called upon, the Seattle Times' Ryan Divish reports. Impact: He said he would understand if the team gave him a day or two off to rest the elbow, but it doesn't sound like something that will impact his usage significantly, even in the short term. Farquhar has a 2.74 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP with 48 strikeouts in 42.2 innings and has been a competent setup man this season.(RotoWire, )
