News: Kimbrel notched two strikeouts while retiring the side in order en route to his 30th save of the season in Friday's win over the Phillies. Impact: Fresh off of his fourth consecutive trip to the Midsummer Classic, Kimbrel became the first closer in the bigs to reach the 30-save threshold this season with Friday's effort versus the Phillies. The 26-year-old flamethrower has blown four chances so far on the campaign, but has otherwise been as dominant as any reliever in the game.(RotoWire, )

News: Kimbrel could see more four- and five-out save chances moving forward, reports. "The more he can do that, the more you feel comfortable using him in the postseason that way," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "I don't feel comfortable yet using him two innings. But in the course of the year when the situation is right, where you have him pitching four or five days, maybe you go five outs and keep working him that way, but the pitch count is the biggest thing." Impact: Kimbrel has successfully converted each of the multi-inning save opportunities he has had since Sept. 5, 2012, with the most recent coming Thursday, when the right-hander stranded a pair of baserunners in the eighth and then tossed a perfect ninth to close out the game. The fantasy implications aren't all that significant, but more batters faced mean more strikeouts for Kimbrel, who has pushed his strikeout percentage back over 40 percent this season (41.2 percent, to be exact).(RotoWire, )
