News: Nelson went 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI in his Padres debut facing the Mets on Friday. Impact: It was a nice debut for Nelson, who will likely stick with the Padres until at least the infield gets healthy. Nelson, who has been around the block as a utility player over the last few years, won't get everyday at-bats moving forward.(RotoWire, )

News: Nelson has been promoted to the big leagues prior to Friday's game, the Union Tribune's Jeff Sanders reports. Impact: He played all over the infield at Triple-A El Paso, and has also played some outfield when he was with the Reds earlier this season. He slashed .293/.422/.463 with two home runs in 24 games at El Paso, but will probably be a utility player with the Padres, which means he won't offer a ton of fantasy value.(RotoWire, )

News: Nelson will man second base and bat seventh Friday against the Mets in his Padres debut, team broadcaster Bob Scanlan reports. Impact: Nelson has spent parts of four seasons in the major leagues between the Rockies, Yankees and Angels, and he was called up by the Padres on Friday to help out around the infield with Everth Cabrera (hamstring) still ailing. The 28-year-old Nelson has hit .279/.355/.389 in 87 games at the Triple-A level this season.(RotoWire, )
