News: Bettis was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. Impact: Bettis has struggled to a 9.12 ERA and 2.11 WHIP in 21 appearances with the big club this season, and it's rather surprising he stuck around as long as he did. He'll work at Colorado Springs for now, but the Rockies may bring Bettis back later in the year to eat some low-leverage innings out of the bullpen.(RotoWire, )

News: Bettis was tagged for three runs on four hits (including a two-run homer) in his one inning out of the bullpen Sunday vs. the Pirates. Impact: The Rockies likely wanted to get more than an inning out of Bettis after starter Franklin Morales was pulled after four innings, but Bettis ended up coughing up a 4-2 lead. Moved to long relief after a disastrous run as a starter last season, Bettis has been even worse out of the bullpen, delivering a 9.38 ERA and 2.17 WHIP. The former top pitching prospect for the Rockies has provided little optimism that he'll ever find success at Coors Field, and could surely benefit from a change in scenery.(RotoWire, )
