News: Janssen recorded his 15th save of the season Wednesday, pitching a perfect ninth while striking out a batter. Impact: Janssen needed a mere eight pitches –- seven strikes –- to retire the side in order. It was a much needed bounce-back outing for Janssen, who had surrendered three runs on six hits over his prior two appearances (1.1 innings). He's seen his strikeout rate all but evaporate this season (just 5.55 K/9, well down from 8.54 K/9 in 2013), but he's still been getting the job done, going 15-for-17 in save situations while sporting a 2.22 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 24.1 innings.(RotoWire, )

News: Janssen (illness) indicated he would be available out of the bullpen Sunday vs. the Rangers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports. Impact: A bout with food poisoning kept Janssen glued to the bench Saturday, but he was able to digest some grub later in the evening and seems to have regained some energy. Manager John Gibbons will call upon Janssen without any reservations should a save situation arise Sunday.(RotoWire, )

News: Janssen was unavailable Saturday against the Rangers due to food poisoning, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports. Impact: Manager John Gibbons considers Janssen to be "sick like a dog," leaving the closer's availability in question for Sunday's series finale in St. Louis. With a save opportunity on the line Saturday, Aaron Loup entered in the ninth inning with a 4-1 lead and instantly yielded a free pass, but a double play ball and flyout quickly ended the frame. As long as Janssen is sidelined, expect Loup to gather up any save chances that may arise.(RotoWire, )
