News: Crawford will start taking flyballs in center field, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports Impact: This probably isn't the best of news for the team's pitching staff, but if Crawford can prove competent at the position, this does give manager Don Mattingly some flexibility.(RotoWire, )

News: Crawford, who was activated from the disabled list prior to Thursday's game, was told by manager Don Mattingly that he won't play much in the "immediate future," Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times reports. Impact: Pretty much as expected. Yasiel Puig will play every day, Matt Kemp most days, Scott Van Slyke against lefties, and Andre Ethier against most right-handers. That would leave Crawford as a $21-million-per-year backup outfielder and pinch-hitter.(RotoWire, )

News: Crawford (ankle) will be activated from the disabled list in advance of Thursday's game versus San Diego, David Vassegh of AM 570 reports. Impact: Crawford, who has been rehabbing at Triple-A Albuquerque, will make his return to the Dodgers in a bench role Thursday. The 32-year-old has not played since May 27 after suffering a severely sprained ankle. While he figures to work his way into the lineup in certain situations, Crawford will primarily hold down a bench role. Prior to the injury, Crawford was hitting .267/.293/.400 with 18 RBI and four home runs. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers demoted Clint Robinson to Albuquerque.(RotoWire, )
