News: Belt (concussion) is making progress in his recovery, according to manager Bruce Bochy, Carl Steward of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Impact: There's still no timetable for Belt's activation from the 7-day DL, but it's good to hear he's doing much better, as that was definitely not the case Thursday.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt said Thursday that he feels no improvement in his concussion symptoms, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Impact: Although Belt was cleared to fly back to San Francisco with the team -- flying has been known to make concussion symptoms worse -- he's reportedly not feeling any better after being hit in the face with a ball during batting practice last week. The team will send Belt to a specialist to get a better idea of where he stands, but at this point, an eventual move to the 15-day DL seems likely.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (concussion) has been cleared to fly back to San Francisco with the team, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Impact: Flying has been known to make concussion symptoms worse, so it's encouraging that the team feels comfortable allowing Belt to travel via airplane back home. Belt reportedly felt so bad upon his arrival to Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday that he immediately went back to the hotel, and manager Bruce Bochy later admitted, "We do have some concern there." The situation is one to monitor closely in the coming days.(RotoWire, )

News: Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Belt's concussion symptoms have lingered longer than expected, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports. "We do have some concern there," Bochy added. Impact: Just Tuesday, Bochy said that Belt was "making progress" and probably a couple days away from resuming baseball activities, but he changed his tune Wednesday. He did not say Belt suffered any sort of setback, but apparently Belt's still not completely symptom-free, and the fact that the team is acknowledging its concern is a bit troubling. It sounds like a return when first eligible Sunday is out the window for Belt, and a possible return date will remain uncertain so long as he remains shut down.(RotoWire, )

News: Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Belt (concussion) is "making progress," but is probably still a couple days away from resuming baseball activities, MLB.com reports. Impact: While the news on Belt is encouraging, it sounds like he may be out beyond the minimum seven days required by his placement on the concussion DL. Belt was hit in the face with a throw during batting practice Saturday, and if he isn't cleared to resume baseball activities until the weekend, he may be hard-pressed to return for next week's Pirates series.(RotoWire, )
Mon. July 21, 2014
News: Belt was officially placed on the 7-day concussion DL on Monday. Impact: Belt was placed on the DL retroactive to July 20, so he could potentially return for next Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers. On the positive side, Belt avoided the 15-day DL, potentially limiting the time he'll have to be away from the team. He'll have to pass the league's mandated concussion protocol before being medically cleared to return, but at the moment, he doesn't appear to be in line for an extended absence.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt has been diagnosed with a concussion and will head to either the 7-day or 15-day DL, CSN Bay Area's Andrew Baggarly reports. Impact: Typically concussed players are placed on the 7-day DL, so the fact that the Giants are contemplating the 15-day DL is a little worrisome. Belt has not disappointed in his production when he's been on the field, but he will nonetheless go down as a bust for fantasy owners this season, as he's already missed 52 games due to injury. The plan is for Adam Duvall to be recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Monday for the start of the Giants' series in Philadelphia.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt left Saturday's game due to dizziness. Impact: His status for the immediate future is uncertain.(STATS, 11:45pm)
Sat. July 19, 2014
News: Belt (head) will miss Sunday's game at the minimum and could miss several days, according to Alex Pavlovic of the Mercury News. Impact: Belt seems like a good bet to hit the 7-day DL with concussion symptoms. The Giants moved Mike Morse from left field to first base and inserted Tyler Colvin into the vacancy when Belt left Saturday's game.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (head) was hit in the face with a throw during batting practice and will have a concussion examination after leaving Saturday's game, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Impact: The dizziness Belt experienced during the game is not a good sign. At this point, it's difficult to predict how much time he could miss. Consider him day-to-day for the time being.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt left Saturday's game with dizziness rather than a back injury, as was earlier thought, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle. Impact: Belt spent time with the trainer before the game, and it's still assumed that meeting was related to the back injury. The cause of the dizziness is still unknown. Consider Belt day-to-day for now.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (back) left Saturday's game against the Marlins in the third inning, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle. Impact: Belt had been dealing with back soreness lately and worked out with the team's trainer before the game. No matter, he was in the game long enough to double in a run and later score a run of his own.(RotoWire, )
Fri. July 18, 2014
News: Belt (back) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins. Impact: Scratched late from the team's final game before the All-Star break due to back stiffness, Belt will man first base and bat sixth Friday against right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Belt is just 5-for-30 (.167 average) with one homer in nine games since returning from a thumb injury, and it looks like he will continue to bat in the bottom half of the order until he picks it up.(RotoWire, )
Sun. July 13, 2014
News: Belt was scratched from the starting lineup with back tightness just before San Francisco's game with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Ehire Adrianza was added to the Giants' lineup and Joaquin Arias took over at first base. Impact: Belt, who missed 50 games with a broken left thumb, was hitting .167 (5 for 30) since coming off the disabled list on July 5. (STATS, 4:24pm)
July 13, 2014
News: Belt was a late scratch Sunday due to back stiffness, Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area reports. Impact: Belt's absence from the lineup really jumbled things up offensively for the Giants. Gregor Blanco will move to second in the order, while Joaquin Arias will play first base and Ehire Adrianza will join the lineup to bat seventh and play second base.(RotoWire, )
