News: Belt will start at first base and hit sixth Friday, Alex Pavlovic of the Mercury News reports. Impact: This will be his first game in the Giants' starting lineup since being activated from the DL after recovering from a concussion. The Giants will likely play him most days down the stretch to try to let him get into a rhythm heading into the postseason.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Impact: Though Belt was activated from the 15-day DL on Monday, he has yet to enter the lineup in any of the team's three games since that time. It seems the Giants are content to bring him back slowly after a long-term absence due to a concussion, so it looks like he may be restricted to pinch-hitting duty in the early going.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (concussion) has been activated from the 15-day DL in advance of Monday's game against Arizona, CSN reports. Impact: The Giants waited until the last minute to announce the move, but Belt will be available for the first time since August 6. He's not in Monday's lineup, but it's possible he could return to the fold within the next few days, depending upon how much rust he and the team feel he may need to shake off. In 186 at-bats this season, Belt is hitting .237 with 24 RBI, 11 home runs and 55 strikeouts.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (concussion) could be activated as soon as Monday night, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Impact: The Giants are still deciding when to activate Belt, but if it's not in advance of Monday's game, it will likely be Tuesday or Wednesday. He's passed all concussion tests, and it's now a matter of whether he's shaken off the rust and is ready to contribute. If Belt is not activated in the next couple of days, he'll likely play in an instructional league game Thursday in an effort to get as many live at-bats as possible before returning to the big league field.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (concussion) will take batting practice Friday, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Impact: Belt said he "feels great" and believes he is close to being able to play. He has been dealing with concussion symptoms since July, and it has taken a lot longer than initially expected to get him this far along. He will add another big bat to the Giants' lineup when he finally returns to the team.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (concussion) was cleared to resume baseball activity after meeting with a specialist Thursday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Impact: Belt hasn't seen the field since Aug. 6, but he should resume first base duties for the Giants in the near future. He'll likely start with batting practice Friday afternoon, and although he may need a few days to get his timing right, it remains a strong possibility he'll rejoin the team before the end of the regular season. First base for the Giants has been a revolving door of Travis Ishikawa, Adam Duvall and Buster Posey on his off days, but it sounds as if some stability may finally be heading for that position as the Giants make their final playoff push.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (concussion) will see a specialist in Pittsburgh on Thursday and if all goes well, he could start taking live batting practice Friday, the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman reports. Impact: The last news we had was that he was hoping to be ready to play by the time the postseason rolls around, but if he can take live BP this weekend, there's a chance he could return to the Giants before the end of the regular season. However, there's so much uncertainty with regards to his timetable that it would be understandable to look for other options in single-season leagues.(RotoWire, )

News: Belt (concussion) said Tuesday that he wants to play in the postseason, Chris Haft of reports. "I don't know how realistic that is, but that's what I'm hoping for," Belt said. Impact: The Giants have yet to formally rule Belt out for the rest of the regular season, but the 26-year-old's words suggest it would be little more than a formality at this point. Between the concussion issues and a fractured left thumb that cost him nearly two months, it's been a lost season for Belt, who hit .237/.296/.446 with 11 homers in his 51 games.(RotoWire, )
