News: Espinosa got his second straight start at second base on Monday, going 1-for-4 with two RBI. Impact: It looks like the weekend starts for Zach Walters and Kevin Frandsen might have just been an effort to motivate Espinosa, rather than take the job away from him. Expect him to get the bulk of the playing time at the keystone while Ryan Zimmerman is on the shelf.(RotoWire, )

News: Espinosa is not in the lineup Saturday, MLB.com's William Ladson reports. Impact: It's the second day in a row Espinosa will start the game on the bench, and while his defensive prowess is not disputable, his .281 OBP makes it difficult to justify starting him everyday. Kevin Frandsen will get the start at second base Saturday.(RotoWire, )

News: Espinosa is not in the lineup Friday against the Reds. Impact: Ryan Zimmerman's placement on the DL earlier in the week with a hamstring injury creates a need at second base for the Nationals, with Anthony Rendon moving back to third, and Espinosa is the presumptive favorite for regular time at the position. Zach Walters will draw the start at the keystone Friday, however, and he could wrestle away a greater share of the starts if he can provide even modest production at the plate.(RotoWire, )

News: Espinosa stands to see an increase in playing time following Ryan Zimmerman's (hamstring) placement on the 15-day DL. Impact: As was the case when Zimmerman spent extensive time on the disabled list earlier this season due to a broken thumb, Anthony Rendon figures to assume everyday duties at third base, opening the door for Espinosa at the keystone. Espinosa hasn't done much to warrant additional playing time, with an ugly .213/.282/.349 line over 258 at-bats, so if he struggles again in his immediate re-appointment to the lineup, perhaps Kevin Frandsen or Zach Walters could cut into his at-bats.(RotoWire, )

News: Espinosa went 2 for 4 with two RBIs in Monday's 7-2 win at Colorado. Impact: Espinosa entered the game mired in an 0-for-26 slump. Hopefully he picks it up down the stretch.(STATS, 2:55pm)

News: With Bryce Harper out of the lineup Monday, Espinosa got the start at second base and went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a triple, two RBI and a run. Impact: There's nothing like a road trip to Coors Field to wake up someone's bat. Harper was just getting a day off, but the Rockies will start another left-hander on Tuesday, so if Nats manager Matt Williams elects to give another starter some rest (Adam LaRoche, perhaps), Espinosa might get a chance to keep things rolling.(RotoWire, )
