News: The A's placed Doolittle (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list Sunday,'s Jane Lee reports. Impact: The A's have not announced how much time Doolittle is expected to miss with the setback, but it seems likely he will be given as much time as needed to get back to full strength by the postseason. No announcement about Doolittle's replacement has been made, but Luke Gregerson is the favorite to take over the closer's role for the A's.(RotoWire, )

News: Doolittle (oblique) will likely be placed on the disabled list, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Impact: The full extent of Doolittle's oblique injury remains uncertain, but it appears he is set to miss at least the next couple weeks due to the setback. Luke Gregerson appears to be the top option to see the ninth-inning duties in Doolittle's absence.(RotoWire, )

News: Doolittle (oblique) underwent an MRI on Sunday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Impact: Doolittle hasn't shown much improvement from the cramping in his oblique, so the Athletics will examine him more closely to see if he's dealing with an intercostal strain. If the MRI indeed reveals a serious oblique injury that results in a DL stay, manager Bob Melvin said he would decide on a fill-in closer rather than using a committee. Luke Gregerson would seem to be the top candidate to take his spot at the back of the Oakland bullpen.(RotoWire, )

News: Doolittle (oblique) felt a cramp in his right side after the second-to-last pitch of Saturday's game against the Angels, Jane Lee of reports. However, he's feeling better, passed some initial tests, and isn't worried it's anything serious. Impact: The news is excellent for owners and the A's, who just grabbed a share of the AL West lead with the Angels after Saturday's win. It sounds like he should be fine but will enjoy an off day Sunday after pitching two days in a row. Barring any setbacks, it should be safe to get "The Doctor" back in your lineup Monday.(RotoWire, )

News: Doolittle slammed the door for his 20th save of the season Saturday against the Angels, allowing a single and striking out one. However, he appeared to be in some discomfort after fielding a groundball for the final out of the game and was seen on camera saying "yeah" when catcher Derek Norris asked him, "oblique?" Impact: Owners will need to sit tight waiting for more information to surface about Doolittle and if, in fact, he suffered some sort of injury Saturday. Oblique and abdominal issues can vary widely from minor stiffness that can be played through to more major strains or tears that require long-term stints on the DL, so keep your fingers crossed. Either way, there's a good chance he gets a rest day Sunday as the closer has pitched two days in a row.(RotoWire, )

News: Doolittle pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit before striking out the side in a non-save situation Tuesday against the Mets. Impact: Having not pitched in five days, the A's needed Doolittle to get in some work. Doolittle has been dominant of late, having not given up a run in 11 appearances (11.1 innings) and he now owns a 2.35 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and astonishing 77:4 K:BB ratio in 53.2 innings this year.(RotoWire, )
