News: Bruce is not in the lineup Monday against the Brewers, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports. Impact: Bruce struck out three times Sunday in addition to making a costly error, so manager Bryan Price will give him a day off to clear his head. The 27-year-old hasn't been living up to his career numbers so far this season, and to make matters worse, he's hit just .138/.180/.310 since July 1. Skip Schumaker will take over in right field, while Donald Lutz mans first base.(RotoWire, )

Impact: The Reds were shut down by Brandon McCarthy on Saturday and have 23 strikeouts in their first two games after the break. They're counting on Bruce to provide a little more with Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips out, and so far he hasn't been up to the task against McCarthy and David Phelps.(RotoWire, )
