News: Hanigan (oblique) was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday, retroactive to July 9, Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Impact: The Rays were hoping to have Hanigan available to open the second half, but evidently the soreness in his left oblique is still lingering. With the backdated DL stint, Hanigan will be eligible to return July 24, but the Rays will have to make do with Jose Molina as their primary option behind the plate in the meantime. Ali Solis figures to return to serve as the backup.(RotoWire, )

News: Hanigan (left side) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, Roger Mooney of The Tampa Tribune reports. Impact: Hanigan was scratched from Friday's lineup with soreness on his left side and was only available in an emergency Saturday. His status is likely the same Sunday, as the team hopes to rest him until after the All-Star break. Jose Molina will get the start behind the plate Sunday, batting eighth for the Rays.(RotoWire, )
