News: Soria will initially serve primarily in the seventh inning for Detroit, James Schmehl of MLive.com reports. Impact: Soria was the primary closer back in Texas, so this news clearly isn't what his fantasy owners want to hear. His value will take a tailspin in the short term, but should Nathan struggle at any point, Soria will be poised to take over the closer's job. Struggles have come frequently for the 39-year-old Nathan this season, as his 5.89 ERA and five blown saves are clearly less than desirable. With that in mind, it could be just a matter of time before Soria overtakes him, although the job will be Nathan's to lose.(RotoWire, )

News: The first-place Detroit Tigers have reinforced the back end of their shaky bullpen, acquiring Soria from the Texas Rangers for minor league pitchers Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel. Impact: Soria is 1-3 with a 2.70 ERA and 17 saves in 19 chances. Detroit has been looking to upgrade a relief corps that ranked 12th out of 15 American League teams with a 4.37 ERA. (STATS, 11:54pm)

News: Soria will be traded to the Tigers, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports 1 reports. Impact: The deal isn't official just yet, as Soria and the other players involved -- Corey Knebel and Jake Thompson -- will first need to pass physicals. Once everything is made complete, Soria will likely serve in a setup role for the Tigers ahead of closer Joe Nathan. Detroit's bullpen has struggled frequently in 2014, so Soria's 2.70 ERA and 0.87 WHIP will certainly be a welcome addition, although his fantasy value will take a massive hit without the potential for consistent saves. However, with a viable replacement option in the fold, there's a chance Nathan may have a shorter leash than he did previously, and Soria could jump back into a prominent role if Nathan were to falter. Meanwhile, back in Texas, Neftali Feliz and Neal Cotts are likely candidates to take over the closer job for the Rangers.(RotoWire, )

News: Soria pitched a scoreless inning in a non-save situation, allowing one hit and striking out two in the Rangers' win over Toronto on Friday night. Impact: Save situations have been scarce in Texas recently - this win broke an eight-game losing streak - but Soria has been the subject of trade rumors involving Detroit so his prospects could change. It's a situation worth monitoring.(RotoWire, )
