News: Simon was charged with three runs on nine hits, walking two and striking out three while lasting just 4.1 innings in a 4-1 loss to the Nationals on Friday night. Impact: Simon (12-5, 2.86 ERA) had a string of eight consecutive quality starts snapped last time out, and he wasn't particularly sharp in this one, needing 89 pitches (59 for strikes) to record just 13 outs. His strand rate and rather pedestrian strikeout rate suggest some regression may be expected so his next start, at home against Arizona, may help define expectations for his fantasy owners going forward.(RotoWire, )

News: Simon suffered a rare defeat Saturday. Impact: Simon fell to 12-4 this year and 0-3 in seven games, including four starts, against the Yankees. The right-hander allowed four runs - two earned - and five hits in five innings, the first time he failed to finish six innings since going 3 2-3 in a 6-3 loss at Dodger Stadium on May 27. He went 6-0 with a 2.47 ERA in his next eight starts.(STATS, 5:42pm)

News: Simon was charged with four runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk over five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Saturday. He struck out four. Impact: Simon's streak of eight consecutive quality starts came to an end Saturday, but it was by no means a terrible outing for the first-time All-Star. He allowed just six baserunners in his five innings, and only one of the hits against him went for extra bases -- the solo homer by Carlos Beltran in the second inning. That said, Simon's bloated strand rate and modest strikeout rate suggests at least a slight regression is likely in store in the second half.(RotoWire, )

Simon joins fellow Reds right-hander Johnny Cueto, left-hander Aroldis Chapman, third baseman Todd Frazier and catcher Devin Mesoraco on the NL team. (STATS, 2:35pm)
