News: Casilla went 0-for-4 and made an error in Saturday's loss to the Blue Jays. Impact: Casilla was a late promotion and the reason for his summoning was defense. It did not help his case that he made an error of his own Saturday. He's not in Sunday's lineup as Ryan Flaherty is starting at third base.(RotoWire, )

News: With the playoffs just days away, the Baltimore Orioles made a late roster addition Saturday, selecting infielder Alexi Casilla from Triple-A Norfolk. Impact: Casilla is making his season debut at third base and batting leadoff against the Blue Jays and left-hander J.A. Happ. It's just his third major league start at third base.(STATS, 4:45pm)

News: Casilla has joined the Orioles in time for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, MASN Sports reports. Impact: Casilla was dealing with a hamstring injury when rosters expanded, and the Orioles originally didn't think they had a need for him, so when he was healthy he was sent to the club's spring training complex. Defense has been a weakness for the Orioles at third base since Manny Machado went down with a season-ending knee injury. Jimmy Paredes, Kelly Johnson, and Ryan Flaherty all made errors at third base this week, so Casilla is up to light a fire for the Orioles. There could even be a possibility that Casilla remains with the team for the postseason as a late-game replacement. Casilla hit .264/.315/.320 in 56 games at Triple-A this season.(RotoWire, )
