News: Shields allowed six hits, one earned run and a walk with seven strikeouts over seven innings Wednesday against the White Sox. Impact: Shields turned in his third quality start in his last four outings, but it wasn't enough to tip him into double-digits in the win column this season, as the go-ahead run wasn't scored until the ninth inning. The right-hander has been having a steady month, allowing 10 earned runs across five starts, to go along with a 33:5 K:BB ratio. Although the Royals insist they won't be sellers at the deadline, Shields could end up drawing some tempting offers if he continues to showcase consistent pitching performances.(RotoWire, )

News: Shields allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits, walking one, and striking out three over 5.2 innings of a 5-4 loss to Boston on Friday night. Impact: He needed 112 pitches (74 for strikes) and didn't make it out of the sixth inning, but he probably deserved better. Entering the sixth with a 4-1 lead, he allowed a two-run home run to Xander Bogaerts, then put a man on base whereas lefty Scott Downs was called upon. He promptly served up a go-ahead home run to pinch hitter Jonny Gomes that put Boston ahead. He'll hope for a better outcome against the White Sox in Chicago in his next start.(RotoWire, )
