News: Hammel threw very well Tuesday night against the Astros, allowing only three hits and one run over seven innings while striking out six. Impact: Hammel got a no decision when Luke Gregerson blew the lead after he replaced him in the eighth inning. Hammel was skipped the last time through the rotation and appeared on the verge of potentially losing his rotation spot due to his struggles since joining the A's. This start will likely earn him a start the next time he comes up in the rotation, Monday at home against the Mariners.(RotoWire, )

News: Hammel will be skipped through this turn of the roation, reports susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Impact: This is not a surprise as it was hard to see the A's sending Hammel out there to face the now first-place Angels this weekend. Hammel has been an utter mess in his time with the A's, going 1-5 with a 6.75 ERA.(RotoWire, )

News: Hammel was lit up on Friday, allowing five earned runs and three homers only over three innings. Impact: No way to sugar coat this one, Hammel has been flat terrible since joining the A's via trade in July. The three homers the Braves hit off him on Friday were all bad mistake pitches right in the middle of the zone. In seven starts since joining the A's, Hammel is now 1-5 with a 6.75 ERA. He had been better his last two starts, but this blowup has to make his hold on a starting rotation spot weak at best. The A's have two off days before his next start, so it is possible they could skip his next turn in the rotation, which would be against the second-place Angels.(RotoWire, )
