News: Hammel pitched three innings of scoreless relief in Thursday's loss to Texas. He scattered three singles and struck out four. Impact: Hammel will miss his scheduled start over the weekend to attend the birth of his child, so he was used in relief Thursday, after Sonny Gray lasted just five innings. The plan as of now is for Hammel to slot back into the rotation on Sept. 25, but check back later to confirm.(RotoWire, )

News: Hammel (personal) will likely slot back into the rotation Sept. 25 against the Rangers, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Impact: Hammel will leave the team after Thursday's game to attend to the birth of his child, opening the door for Drew Pomeranz to face the Phillies on Saturday. The expectation is that Hammel will rejoin the team after the weekend and take his next turn Sept. 25, in what may very well be his final start of the season.(RotoWire, )

News: Hammel allowed three runs over five innings while striking out six on Friday night against the Mariners. Impact: Hammel gave up two solo homers which hurt his cause, but was fairly effective in his outing. He only threw 78 pitches because the A's needed to pinch hit for him in the sixth after losing their DH when the DH, Derek Norris, had to go into the game to catch. After a tough start with the A's, Hammel has been quite strong his last seven starts, allowing more than three runs only once. He will next toe the rubber on Thursday against the Rangers.(RotoWire, )

News: Hammel struck out seven and allowed two runs in 6.2 innings Sunday. Impact: Hammel had a shutout through six innings, but tired in the seventh and was unable to get out of the inning. After a rough start to his A's career, Hammel has now allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts and looks to have solidified his spot in the rotation for the rest of the season. Hammel will next take the mound Friday in Seattle.(RotoWire, )
