News: Wilson (ankle) is set to return from the disabled list Saturday to start against the Rays, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Impact: Wilson will have ended up missing about three weeks as a result of the ankle injury and hip tightness, with the latter ailment bearing some responsibility for his downturn in performance in the four starts before he landed on the DL. The southpaw came through Monday's rehab start at Double-A Arkansas feeling fine, and expects to be back in form immediately upon returning to the Angels. Wilson's 4.33 ERA thus far on the campaign would represent his worst showing for a full season in his five years as a starting pitcher.(RotoWire, )

News: Wilson (ankle) discovered considerable tightness in his right hip, which he says affected him in his last four starts before being placed on the disabled list, the Los Angeles Times reports. Impact: Wilson certainly didn't look like himself in his final 16.2 innings pitched prior to his stint on the DL, as he allowed 24 runs (19 earned) over that span. The 33-year-old said that the issue "had the effect of dragging the ball back over the middle of the plate," which he feels has been improved by deep tissue massage on the affected area. If Wilson's recent struggles were due to a corrected ailment, he could be worth an add off the wire for what may be his return start Saturday against the Rays, if a frustrated owner cut bait following the recent ugly stretch.(RotoWire, )

News: Wilson (ankle) said his bullpen Wednesday was "good" and he's ready to rejoin the rotation, which could come as soon as Saturday in Tampa Bay, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher reports. Impact: He gave up two runs and struck out seven in 5.1 innings in a rehab start for Double-A Arkansas on Monday, and lines up perfectly to slot back into the rotation Saturday. In this scenario, Hector Santiago would return to the bullpen. Continue to monitor his status for official confirmation, but it seems likely he will be activated prior to Saturday's game.(RotoWire, )

News: Wilson (ankle) tossed his first bullpen session Monday, after which he said he'll likely require a rehab assignment, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. Impact: Wilson landed on the disabled list on the Thursday before the All-Star break as a result of a sprained right ankle, which is expected to keep him out between 2-to-4 weeks. Because he's quickly approaching two weeks on the pine and just threw his initial bullpen, the southpaw remains some time away from a return to the Angels' rotation.(RotoWire, )

News: Angels GM Jerry DiPoto told MLB Network Radio that the team is projecting Wilson (ankle) to miss a total of three weeks due to his injury. Impact: That would represent the midpoint of the two-to-four-week timetable the Angels initially prescribed for Wilson when he landed on the disabled list July 10. The red-hot squad promptly reeled off wins in five of their six games since Wilson was diagnosed with the right ankle sprain and should be able to remain competitive in the AL West while Hector Santiago fills his spot in the rotation.(RotoWire, )

News: Wilson (ankle) threw off flat ground Friday, but it's still too soon to know how close he is to returning to the Angels' rotation, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher reports. Impact: Manager Mike Scioscia said the lefty is still sore, and has yet to throw off a mound. There's not much to report here other than the fact that Angels have yet to release a firm timetable for his return. However, when he first sustained the injury on July 10, the estimate was 2-to-4 weeks, and it certainly doesn't look like he'll be back by the low end of that estimate.(RotoWire, )
