News: Schumaker is out of the lineup Monday against the Diamondbacks. Impact: Schumaker has started five straight contests since his Tuesday activation, but will take a seat for a routine day of rest Monday night. The 34-year-old utility man is 6-for-25 at the dish since the All-Star break, and should continue to see consistent starts at second base while the Reds await the return of Brandon Phillips (thumb). Kristopher Negron will take over second base duties, and bat seventh in the order against opposing starter Chase Anderson.(RotoWire, )

News: Schumaker was activated from the 7-day concussion DL on Sunday. He'll bat second and man the keystone for the afternoon tilt. Impact: Schumaker hasn't played since July 10, but is ready for action Sunday afternoon. The utility man should see relatively consistent reps with the Reds moving forward, especially with the absence of Brandon Phillips (thumb) at second base. Neftali Soto was sent down to Triple-A to clear a roster spot.(RotoWire, )

News: Schumaker passed his latest concussion test but must wait for the league and the Player's Association to sign off on the results before he can be activated, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Impact: Manager Bryan Price has already submitted his lineup card for Saturday's game, and Schumaker is absent yet again, but it sounds like the 34-year-old is close to returning to action. If both the league and the Player's Association sign off on the results of the concussion test, Schumaker could be back as soon as Sunday and would likely see near-everyday time while Brandon Phillips (thumb) is on the mend.(RotoWire, )

News: Schumaker (concussion) has not been cleared to play, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Impact: Along with the concussion he suffered last weekend, Schumaker is also reportedly dealing with a shoulder injury. He is without a set timetable for a return, but Schumaker figures to see regular time between second base and left when healthy, at least until Brandon Phillips (thumb) returns. Ramon Santiago will man the keystone Friday.(RotoWire, )
