News: A person familiar with the situation says free agent first baseman Adam LaRoche has agreed to a contract with the Chicago White Sox. Impact: The White Sox have AL Rookie of the Year Jose Abreu entrenched at first base, so LaRoche is likely to see most of his time at designated hitter. He has spent almost his entire career in the National League, save for six games for Boston in 2009. LaRoche gives the White Sox some sorely needed power from the left side. He hit .259 with 26 homers and 92 RBIs in 140 games this year for NL East champion Washington. (STATS, 11:41pm)

News: LaRoche signed a two-year, $25 million contract with the White Sox on Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Impact: LaRoche had a decent year with the Nationals in 2014, batting .259/.362/.455 with 26 home runs and 92 RBI. He will head to one of the more hitter-friendly ballparks in baseball, joining Jose Abreu in the middle of the lineup. Both LaRoche and Abreu figure to see time at first base and at DH next season.(RotoWire, )
